  1. Since cops can track your car with a GPS without a warrant, can an investigator legally do that also?

And if I hire a PI to electronically track someone, can I get a full report of everyplace they've been?

Great question ! GPS tracking is legal still in Ma although it is under fire due to some rogue investigators. I have a policy in my company and that is to avoid any legal questions by ONLYusing GPS on married couples or if the couples that have joint ownership in the vehicle. It is legal though as long as you are not breaking into the car or altering by using a hard wire unit. I use units that connect with a satellite tracking in real time. It will not tell you the name of the person your subject could be banging, although it can be very effective. An example would be if they stop at 142 Main Street daily between 2-3 you can now conduct further follow up. All clients get a copy of all activity.

    Hope this Helps.
